Hi! I’m Owen. I’m an Architectural Engineering student at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada. I am passionate about creating affordable housing through volunteering and thermal insulation and its effect on the environment. I have experience in AutoCAD, SketchUP and Revit. I volunteer for Engineers Without Borders, in particular the WATurbine team.

In my free time, I really like coffee. I like light roasted beans and making pourovers; I find the experience quite meditative. I also play a lot of rhythm games, specifically osu!. I host a multitude of tournaments for that game, as well as being a pretty solid player if I do say so myself. Apart from that, I listen to a lot of music. My favourite genres to listen to are hyper-pop, indie rock, and dariacore.

DESCRIPTION

Created by the late modernist architect Vilanova Artigas, the Olga Baeta residence is a renowned building in São Paulo built in 1957. João Batista Vilanova Artigas has had a substantial influence on the modernist movement, especially in Brazil, where he contributed to Estádio do Morumbi, Praça da República, and many more. He also was the founding father of the Paulista School, a group of architects in Brazil during the 1950’s.

Despite his influence, Olga Baeta somethimes goes under the radar. When I was looking into him, I couldn’t find much info about this house at all, let alone a model. The only thing I saw was a renovation by SPBR in 1998. Using SPBR’s original floor plans and elevation, and with guidance from Jeremy Bailey, the house was recreated in Rhino to help preserve the legacy of Vilanova Artigas.
